Make Every Night a Movie Night! |
Well fear no more children! I am here to give you 7 movies for the week (or watch them in one day!) that I feel will not steer you wrong. I tried mixing up the genres so that you can get a well rounded experience.
*Please keep in mind that we all have different tastes so not all the movies may be to your liking.*
Let me preface this by telling you this movie is NOT for the faint of heart! It's gory and there IS some nudity in it. It's VERY disturbing but at the same time amazing! If you are a serial killer aficionado, you'll appreciate this movie!
Breakdown: psycho killer kills cop's wife. Cop catches killer, plants a bug on him & sets him free. Every time killer is about to kill someone, cop comes, beats him up, hurts him, then sets him free again.
Great concept, great action, believable characters.

This is everything the boring Channing Tatum movie, The Eagle, was supposed to be. If you like those type of period movies with lots of sword fighting, this is for you! Bloody & action packed, you can't go wrong with this film! Also, Magneto (from X-Men First Class) is a great actor as usual!

I'm a huge fan of Michael Jai White! He's the king of B Kung Fu movies (much like Billy Blanks was in the early 90s) and he delivers the kicks every time! He's a better actor than he's given credit for (watch him in "Why Did I Get Married" for some comedy) and his amazing knowledge of martial arts makes him fun to watch in all his fights. Blood & Bone brings in the noise & brings in the punch with a BUNCH of fights that will keep you watching from beginning to end.
Watch for a very quick cameo of Kimbo Slice in the beginning!

Hunger Games? What's that? THIS movie is what Hunger Games should have been! High school kids put on an island for a limited time and forced to kill each other until only one is left standing...why is this better than Hunger Games? Well, while HG certainly has the edge on special effects and all....Battle Royale delivers the violence in actually showing these kids killing each other! Nerds become hunters, loners become crazy killers and the lowly teacher is now the one pulling all the strings! It's foreign and subtitled, but worth it!

I'm a HUGE Greek Mythology buff. I love any movie or story surrounding it. This movie gets a bad rap for a lot of reasons, but I recommend it simply for the flashy effects, great looking fight scenes, and to see how the creators of the movie depict the Minotaur from the legends we know. This movie won't make you think, but it should hold your attention enough to satisfy your movie watching needs on a day you don't want to go out.

Zombies are everywhere! We see all kinds of movies and shows (like the awesomeness that is the Walking Dead) about zombies, but let's be real: they're not all very good. Usually they focus on the zombies and forget to tell you the story of the survivors. The Horde is different though. This movie focuses on the survivors and the story of them all plays out til the end. What really helps is that the characters are awesome (cops and gangsters who have to team up to take on the undead), and towards the end of the film there's the most awesome Gatling gun scene where a ton of zombies get mowed down. Don't watch this just for the scares, but for the action and story behind the characters!

This movie is a cult classic that didn't get too much support when it came out in 1987 because it was overshadowed by other new releases like Hellraiser, The Principal, The Princess Bride, and Arnold Schwarzenegger's The Running Man. This old school comedy movie is an 80's look at high school through the eyes of a kid who isn't exactly the popular one. When a new kid, who looks like a 30yr old biker, and who doesn't like being touched shows up to school, our hero tries to interview him and ends up being challenged to a fight. The comedy is in this boy trying everything (including turning to his goth female friend for spiritual guidance) for help getting out of the fight.
Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the cheesiness as it plays out!
