END OF WATCH (BAD BOYS, BAD BOYS, WATCHYA GONNA DO?)

**Thank you Josh Alvarez for requesting this review & suggesting this movie!**

Just finished watching this awesome cop drama about an hour ago and, WOW, what a movie!

This flick will inevitably draw comparisons to Denzel's "Training Day" (mainly because it's from the same writers, but also because the same gangster from Training Day is in End of Watch briefly) but don't believe the hype.  "End of Watch" does not have as complex a story as Training Day in that there was no interweaving storyline involving crooked cops...but this was a more realistic look into the lives of the brave men and women of the LAPD.

King Kong ain't got nothin' on End of Watch
What makes this movie so different?  The grittiness and realism that makes End of Watch special is that it is generally filmed from the perspectives of the police (a beefed up Jake Gyllenhaal is documenting everything on his camcorder, COPS style) and the bad guys (also documenting everything on their camcorder).  Some might complain that there's a lack of story in this film, but I liked how they made this movie less about the story and more about what inner city cops go through on a day to day basis.

"Say Brokeback Mountain again...I DARE YOU!"

It just so happens that these two policemen get caught up (accidentally) in a situation that's over their heads.  There's not much more to tell than that.  You learn about who these men really are behind the badges so that by the time the bullets fly, you actually care about whether they live or die.  I advise that if you are into police movies, you sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride!  I'm making it sound very simplistic, but there are a LOT of great (and gruesome) scenes, action, and laughs.

For those of you with Rated G ears, this movie is a minefield of curses.  F-bombs galore....but that's expected with inner city police dealing with inner city gangs (I've worked with the NYPD in the past, so trust me, I KNOW how the language can get!)

Brace yourselves...foul language on the horizon!
