Unfortunately, I did what everyone else my age did & compared this movie to the original scene by scene.
It's a little different, but if you pay attention to the smallest details, there were a bunch of similarities in the dialogue & scenes. For example, a woman gets pulled to the side when she shows her passport & anyone who saw the original would assume the woman was actually Colin Ferrell because she was the one Arnold was disguised as.
Little things like that.
COLIN! GET TO DA CHOPPA!! |
As a remake, this movie is so so...
As a standalone, it could have been really good... but if you saw the original when it was popular, then Arnold's version won't let you enjoy this film on it's own.

**Big shout out to Retro Fitness for always showing the original Total Recall in the theater room. Saved me the trouble of having to rent it to refresh my memory.

***By the way, if you DIDN'T like the original when it came out (because a lot of people didn't), you might actually like this remake as it's a little less far fetched than Arnold's Recall....a LITTLE less far fetched.
I'll be back.
