ATTACK THE BLOCK (ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES YOU HAVEN'T SEEN!)

Inner City vs Outer Space!  Let the war begin!!

What would you do if your group of close friends were confronted with a small alien invasion threatening to take over your neighborhood?  ......I'd run.  But not these guys!  ATTACK THE BLOCK!!

I've always enjoyed movies from "across the pond" (you know, The UK) and they seem to keep getting better in my opinion.

This little gold nugget of a movie got so much less attention than it deserved, it's criminal.  There may be a couple of reasons why this happened, starting with the fact that you will not find any familiar faces other than that of Nick Frost (Simon Pegg's right hand man in Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, both great English movies) and Luke Treadaway (if you were REALLY paying attention you'd recognize him as the crazy dude from the 2010 version of Clash of the Titans).  Although Frost and Treadaway were only in this film for a few minutes, they delivered the funny!

"Recognize us?"
Now about the story of this awesome flick:  a close knit group of mischievous teens and pre-teens who run their neighborhood with an iron fist (yes, it's a gang), discover that their home is under attack by a group of other-worldly monsters looking for blood!

Attack The Block has an awesome combination of scary, intense and hilarious moments that will keep you attached to the screen from beginning to end!  When I got this DVD from Netflix, I actually watched it 3 times back to back because I liked it so much.

This movie, to give you some perspective, was a combination of The Goonies and The Monster Squad (which, by the way, if you haven't seen those movies, stop reading and go see them NOW!) with the kids being more colorful with their language like the Monster Squad.  I loved this film because, unlike the way the trailers for it made you believe, some of the main characters in the gang actually died.  It added a very real sense of urgency and realism.

Wolfman's got what?
Just a warning:  you may need to brush up on your English comedy as the fellas in the UK joke differently than we do here in the good ol' US of A.  But it's still funny nonetheless.

My Rating:

4.50287175429 out of 5 stars

Definitely recommended!

Have a great one!
