Here it is again kids! Sorry it's taken so long...I promise not to let you go too long without this much needed info again soon!
I have here for you three movies to keep you going for this coming weekend:
V/H/S |
Ah the anthology....a collection of unrelated stories sometimes connected by a general arc.
Here's the short version of what happens:
In V/H/S a small group of mischievous friends record everything they do on video camera. It is then revealed that someone has offered them a nice payday should they manage to break into someone's home and steal a special VHS tape. Upon entering the house, they find a dead body and LOTS of tapes...so they decide to take whatever tapes are in other parts of the house whilst leaving one of the group to stay with the body and watch the tapes that are there with it.
We are then treated to a series of "home videos" where extremely otherworldly things happen to different people. As each tape finishes, strange things happen to the group of boys in the home which leads to a climactic ending.
This movie really surprised me. I wasn't expecting much but was very happy with the result! It was creepy and original with no big star actors to make it feel fake.
*WARNING* There's a nude scene in this film....albeit a few seconds...but a nude scene nonetheless.
Get Friday night going with a nice pop!

Prince of Darkness |
Are you a fan of the classic 80's cheesy horror movies?
I AM!!
Sometimes they can be so far over the top that they become too ridiculous for words (like "Don't Go In The Woods....Alone") or they can be completely legendary (like "The Gate")! Between the two extremes of 80's movies, you've got the gems that people either overlook because of the awesome movies or never trusted because of the really cheesy ones.
Prince of Darkness is one of those gems everyone should have seen but didn't because of all its counterparts that were released in 1987....especially two little movies called "The Lost Boys" and "Predator". But how could anyone go wrong with a classic John Carpenter film?!
Here's the short version of what happens:
A priest discovers a container of green liquid with an evil aura in the basement of a church. Not knowing its true origin, he gets his college professor friend to come in with a group of science students to examine the container and its content. The liquid starts to leak and evil things start happening. Will they survive the night or will the world witness its demise?
This movie was a silent winner for me. I had nothing to do on a Saturday and this was staring at me from my queue. I'd just finished seeing the movie "House" a few days earlier and was trying to forget how horrible it was. Prince of Darkness looked to be just like House so I almost skipped it but decided to take a chance. Glad I did! The music was great and kept me engaged in the movie, the acting was really good and the plot (while, yes, kind of cheesy and unbelievable) was interesting.
Give this a shot for a throwback Saturday!

Batman: Year One |
Keep in mind that this is about Bruce Wayne in his first year of being Batman, so you won't see all the cool gadgets, the Batcave or any super villains. This film is centered around Commissioner Gordon and Batman as they find their niche in crime fighting. It's very interesting and fun.
This is a cool Sunday afternoon watch. While you don't get to see any super villains, we're introduced to one staple of villainy in Gotham City. I'll leave that as a surprise!

Enjoy your weekend and enjoy the flicks!
