FAST & FURIOUS 6 REVIEW (NO SPOILERS)

I'm back kids!!

So first let me offer my most humblest heartfelt apologies for not being here to blaze a cinematic trail for you to follow through these lonely days.  My work schedule has intensified, I've been given more responsibility at work and I've re-enrolled in school so the already limited free time I've had just got more limited!

But have no fear my children, for I have NEVER forgotten about you!  In fact, I've been watching flicks when I could, reading some books in transit between work and home and have been flooded with ideas to keep us going strong here!

Ok, enough about me, let's get to you and what you want:

 Do you believe in ghosts?

We've got most of our favorite players back in action (I say "most" because real life Puerto Rican musicians artists Tego Calderon and Don Omar are inexplicably absent this movie which I was very upset about) to give us another shot of adrenaline!

MISS YOU DUDES!
We pick up just a short while from where we left off at the end of part 5 with Brian (Paul Walker) and Dom (Vin Diesel) racing to the hospital for the birth of Brian's son.  After the big score from the last film, the whole gang is lavishing in luxury in their own ways while Hobbs (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) hunts a big time criminal (the always great Luke Evans) who has ties to someone from Dom's past.

A blast from the past makes her long awaited return...Michelle Rodriguez!
The only way to take down this criminal, who uses high speed cars to commit his crimes, is to call on the boys who made high speed heists cool.  Now the insanity ensues in the streets of London!

Joining the fray and mayhem in this flick are two absolute powerhouses of fighting: Gina Carano and Johannes Taslim!!

Oh wait, what?  You don't know them?  Well Gina Carano you should already know from MMA and Haywire fame and Johannes Taslim isn't a huge star right now, but I believe he's on his way.  These two great fighters are actually featured in a post I put up in early December of 2012 about realistic fights in movies.  Click here to read the post and see the two of them in action in their movies!

Another great surprise is bodybuilder Kim Kold (no, it's not a woman).  He wasn't a prominent character but he made his mark every time the camera turned his way....and you can look forward to his big fight scene with the Rock!

Who wouldn't wanna see these two lock horns?
We have high octane action, comedy, fast cars and hard hitting fights with surprising plot twists in this summer smash!  Yes, of course the movie and action is not realistic, but let's be honest people, none of it was realistic from the first installment.  It's all intended to be good fun to keep you on the edge of your seat and smiling (which is what I was doing all movie), and this is what the franchise has done for us all along.  Here's a look back at the times we had with the Fast & Furious franchise:

Will you have to see the first 5 movies beforehand?  I would say yes.  Fast & Furious 6 ties all the movies together (including Tokyo Drift) flawlessly, bringing in a little of each movie into this one whether it be through information or characters.

My Rating:

4.26289589267 out of 5 stars

If you've seen it already, did you enjoy it?  What did you think?

Oh, by the way, stick around after the initial credits to see the premise of the next, and final, Fast & Furious installment unfold!

Ride or die

Jay

  1. Now since it is a summer film that has The Rock in it, it's normal to expect a bunch of exciting action and maybe a few cheesy one liners and stuff like that and this movie does have those, but also a bunch of fun as well. Good review Jay.
