JACK REACHER REVIEW

Crazy as he may be, Tom Cruise has still got it!

As always, this review has nothing to do with the books on which this film is based, it's about the movie as a separate entity.

For those like myself who did not read the Jack Reacher books, the trailer for this film caused us to believe that this was a Jason Bourne ripoff.  The first thing I thought was "oh boy, Tom Cruise is trying to capitalize on Matt Damon's success in this genre."

"Jack Reacher"?  Pssh.
Upon watching the movie, I found how wrong I was, and I was pleasantly surprised at that.

Jack Reacher is a military homicide investigator who is VERY good at what he does; which is finding and catching military-trained killers.  When a former US Army sniper is framed for murder, he calls for Reacher to come in and find out the truth.

The truth turns out to be a conspiracy that spans into law enforcement itself headed by a man who will do anything to survive.

My Rating:

3.2849234 out of 5 stars

The movie was definitely enjoyable, and it was refreshing to see it was not a Bourne ripoff at all.  It was an investigative movie that focused on the case and less on the action, although the commercials led you to believe it was all action.  I couldn't give the movie 4 stars because the main villain of the film was really not as much of a threat as his own henchmen (who weren't too much of a threat themselves).

Still an enjoyable and watchable movie though.  I rented it on Video on Demand for about $5, which I think is fair for this movie.  I'm glad I didn't spend more watching it in theaters.  This is definitely a movie to catch at home!

Until next time

Jay
