Hide ya kids, hide ya wife....the non-zombs are out there!
The non-zombie is such a complicated creature. Zombies usually have a universal mindset: eat. Whether it's brains or human flesh, zombies are always seeking sustenance.
Their backwoods cousins, the non-zombies, are very different (and usually less popular). Non-zombies usually travel in packs like zombies, but this is the extent of their similarities. These monsters usually vary in intent and purpose when killing. They almost never hunt humans to eat them, but mainly just to kill. It's their reason for killing that varies the most from movie to movie. Perhaps the most disturbing reality of non-zombies is that they are humans who are not dead or undead like zombies are!
In this post we're going to see three different flicks that give three separate reasons for the non-zombies to kill:
I actually posted a review about this movie earlier, but I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to bring it back to memory. This under appreciated non-zombie flick deserves to be seen.

Five years after 28 Days Later rocked the non-zombie genre, its sequel kicked down the door again. This time it had a more Americanized aspect to it, but it still delivered the scares and mystique the first one did.
Best of all, the epic music from the first film was used again!
28 weeks after the infected have starved to death, American troops (led by the super talented Idris Elba) are sent to help rebuild the ravaged London. When a pair of homesick siblings decide to sneak out of the safe zone and visit their old home, they come across a shocking discovery that just may be a simultaneous answer to their prayers and their worst nightmare. Their father (played by Robert Carlyle of Once Upon A Time) is directly impacted by the discovery and releases the nightmare.
Chaos breaks out as the Rage Virus finds its way back into the masses and threatens the lives of everyone in London again. We follow the siblings as they try to stay alive with the aid of a woman and an American soldier (played by up and comer Jeremy Renner) and try to get out of London before the military incinerates it.

I thought this was a great followup to 28 Days Later and it ramps up the action. I believe the success of the original offered the makers an opportunity for a bigger budget which can be seen with the quality of the second movie. It had bigger action scenes and special effects. The ending also left us wanting to see another installment, don't miss it!
The Crazies is the remake of George A. Romero's classic movie of the same name, and, in my opinion, it's actually better than the original! This may be because Mr Romero helped to both write and produce the remake.
Innocent people, in a small town where everyone knows everyone, are starting to become maniacs for seemingly no reason. People are killing their own families with no remorse or emotion.
The only explanation is that everyone has gone crazy! When the local sheriff (the always great Timothy Olyphant) runs out of solutions, the military steps in to control the situation that they themselves may have caused, and all hell breaks loose.
How do you kill someone who you've been personal friends with all your life?
