SHOCKTOBER, DAY 27: SPLINTER

A new breed of monster....

Splinter is a little known, and underrated, horror movie with a big bite!

A couple is on an anniversary camping trip when their tent breaks, causing them to search for a motel.

Another couple is on the run and are looking to flee the country.

When the two couples clash, they wind up at a lonely gas station where a mysterious and extremely vicious creature attacks them.  Can the couples survive the onslaught of the monster, or will they fall victim to it?

Creepy Factor:

This flick is definitely a hidden gem.  When watching this movie you may feel that you've seen this type of movie before...it's because this movie monster is very similar to the alien creature in the classic movie The Thing (starring Kurt Russell) in its ability to add body parts to itself and transform living things into hosts just by a touch.

You were stung by the monster?  Yea, you're dead.
What makes Splinter so good is the same thing that made The Thing and (most of) the Alien movies great:  CGI was not done to death!  The monster was created  using old school methods of using people in costume which make for a realistic looking creature.

All in all, it's still a great watch, very gory and pretty scary.
