OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN (CALL ZEUS AND THE BOYS)

Hide ya kids, hide ya wife...
King Leonidas gears up to take back the White House after it's been infiltrated by Korean terrorists.

In an attempt to withdraw the United States from the Korean civil war, a terrorist takes over the White House and attempts to destroy America from within.  Unfortunately for him, Gerard Butler is in top form as former head of the president's Secret Service detail and ready to kick some booty.

This movie sports an all star cast who all deliver convincingly from major to minor roles.  It had an intensity throughout because of the fact that it was realistic in its violence and ruthlessness of the terrorists.  The writers made sure they didn't make the classic action movie mistake of making the comedic one liners forced or too frequent; the one liners that were in the film were timed perfectly and, while they made you laugh, never took away from the overall feeling of dread.

On a side note: Angela Bassett simply DOES NOT AGE!!  That woman looks as young and beautiful as she ever has!
54 years young!
This movie was smart, action packed and suspenseful.  I highly recommend watching it in the theater!

My Rating:

  1. If I was a critic I would have written this movie off. Saying that its just one of those movies with the same old plot with a bit modification. This is true, but as an audience I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The best thing about this movie is its pace. You won't know how fast the 110 minutes go. There's not a minute you feel bored. The attack sequences are bit over the top, but if you are a drama lover, you won't be disappointed. The storyline isn't much to think about but the screenplay is apt. Gerard Butler does what he does best, fight bad guys. Aaron Eckhart as the stern faced president reminds you of Harvey Dent. Morgan Freeman probably is there to strengthen the star value in the film. But its the villain Rick Yune with his evil smile who impresses. This is an out and out entertainer, don't think too much, just be in the moment and watch this movie.

    1. Thank you for the feedback!! I totally agree with you on this. Rick Yune's was actually my favorite character in this. I try to watch & review as strictly an audience member because there are so many great critics out there already.

I remember after the movie finished, I looked at the time, then turned to my wife & told her "I can't believe this was almost 2 hours!" It really did fly by!

Thank you again for the comment! look forward to more input from you in posts to come!

  2. The weight of what's happening does make itself noticeable mainly because of how much the destruction of the terrorists plan is going to affect America and I actually did like that part of the film. But this movie isn’t meant to be taken seriously, it’s meant to allow you to have fun and let that be it. Good review Jay.
