WORLD WAR Z REVIEW (SOME SPOILERS)

After moving some things around, it's time to return to one of my first loves and post here regularly again.  You're welcome.

The dead walk among us!

Yes I'm back from the dead and ready to walk among the living again!

So let's get down to it.  By now most of you have seen World War Z with the rest of you either not wanting to take a chance on it or just not interested in zombie flicks.

I know seeing Brad Pitt can make you wonder "why would I want to see a horror movie with a guy who immediately makes a film more beautiful just by his model-like good looks?"  Well that's the beauty of this film, Pitt doesn't take anything away from it.

*Disclaimer*
I am NOT going to compare this movie to its book because I did not read the book nor am I a book reviewer!  This review is based solely on the movie!

With the thousands of zombie films out there ranging from the horrible B films to the epic George A. Romero material, World War Z actually stands out separately.

What stands out about this movie?

First: the zombies in this film have a "pack" or "hive" mentality as shown by the montage of pack animals at the beginning of the movie and as shown by the massive zombie hill they make when breaching a city wall.

Second: this film does not center itself on a singular group trying to survive, but shows the zom-demic on a worldwide scale so that you can know that this is not an isolated incident in any one country (like 28 Days Later....I know, I know, they weren't zombies in 28 Days Later.....chill out).

Third: the zombies do not eat brains!  Okay, okay....so the whole "braaaaiiiins" thing has not been done in a zombie movie in forever, but what IS done is that we are given an explanation as to why the zombies do and DO NOT binge on human flesh.....and I must say, the scientific reasoning can make sense in reality to some degree.

Fourth: it's Brad Pitt!  I can't think of another zombie film with the lead actor having such star power that more people have talked about THEM than the actual movie before it hit theaters!

So what's the premise?  Simple (kind of).... The world wakes up to find itself in the midst of a humanity-ending zombie outbreak.  Former United Nations employee is called to guide a team around the world to backtrack the outbreak to its source.

My Rating:

4.5762823418 out of 5 stars

Action ensues about 5 minutes in from the opening credits which gets you ready to experience a wild ride!  Much better than I was anticipating!  Very fun watch!

See you soon

  1. Great movie! Pitt did a good job. I read somewhere he demanded the ending be shot over. Wonder what the original ending was? By the way, it was way different from the book, which was set up as a bunch of interviews of people from all over the world who survived the zombie apocalypse.

    1. From what I've read, the original ending was much more violent. It was supposed to be somewhere along the lines of people using sick people as shields against the zombies while fighting them.

Sounds pretty interesting! Let's hope the DVD comes with that alternate ending
